Matariki Blog
Matariki is a time to acknowledge the dead and to release their spirits to become stars. It was also a time to reflect, to be thankful to the gods for the harvest, to feast and to share the bounty of the harvest with family and friends.
For Art, we have been making a collaborative Matariki Star.
First, we had a shape of a diamond on a piece of paper for ideas. Next we had a piece of foam shaped as a diamond and drew our idea on the foam with a felt pen.
Next we poked holes along the pen lines and then joined up the holes to make the lines. We pulled out some of the small things like stars.
Finally we rolled gold paint onto it and printed it on black paper to make a matariki star.
cousins I liked the way you added/used the word god and dead its a grate think to read. I think you cud add a pihcher
